Work-Life Balance

Work-Life Balance

Is it part of your Corporate Culture?

The success or failure of an organisation ultimately depends on its corporate culture and business leaders are the ones who set the right or wrong culture for the organisation. Implementing the right work-life balance for the organisation and the employees will therefore depends on its culture and leaders.

Many business leaders pay lip service to work-life balance. They may strongly advocate for it but yet, they themselves do not set the right example. They work long hours and drive their employees hard to meet targets. Rather than having a conducive high-performance culture with the right work-life balance, dissatisfaction among employees increases and the culture will eventually turn toxic, resulting in high employee turnover. In the end, productivity and performance of employees will go in a downward spiral.

Happy employees have a direct impact on the productivity and performance of the company. As a result of happy employees building better rapport with customers, satisfaction and retention of loyal customers increase. In the end, this improves revenue and the overall profitability of the company.

Not only happy employees are less likely to quit, but they are also more engaged, collaborative and even innovative in finding solutions to issues faced by the business. By and large, the rate of absenteeism and presenteeism decrease within a happy workforce.

To have happy employees, businesses must focus on employee wellness and wellbeing. One of the ways to have better employee wellness and wellbeing is to provide better work-life balance.

Hence, a better work-life balance for the employees can be part of the solution to avoid such a situation. Employees with a good work-life balance feels more empowered to manage their work and family life. As a result, this may provide them a greater sense of fulfilment and happiness. This positive outlook will spill over within the organisation. Not only happy employees are more likely to be more productive, but the corporate bottom line will also improve with lower health costs and absenteeism.
